When police arrived, they said they located a man unconscious on the rooftop bar. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where investigators said he was pronounced dead.

The man has since been identified by police as Dallas Jordan Barrett, a 22-year-old from Smyrna.

Detectives said they were told by bar staff that Barrett “became unruly” and was asked to leave, but instead, began to fight with security staff, who pulled him to the ground and held him on the floor.

Barrett reportedly became unresponsive while being held on the ground by security, according to investigators.

Police labeled the man’s death a homicide, but said no arrests had been made, as of early Tuesday morning.

The District Attorney’s Office will also take part in the investigation.

Detectives said they have reviewed one cell phone video of the incident, but are asking anyone who may have other video of the altercation to contact the Metro Nashville Police Department at 615-862-7019.
