Golf tournament raises awareness for teen suicide

It was a big day for an organization that helps Middle Tennessee youth with depression.

The Phillip Fulmer and Charlie Daniels Golf Classic was held Tuesday at the Hermitage Golf Course.

Proceeds from the event benefitted the Jason Foundation, which was formed by Clark Flatt after his son died from suicide in 1997.

Since then, the foundation has worked to raise awareness about teen suicide and warning signs for those who are at risk.

"This program has gone to I can't even tell you how many schools but it actually works and that's what I'm doing here. That's what we all are doing here. It's atrocious to think about someone in their teens ending their life when they have their whole life ahead of them," said Charlie Daniels.

This was the 20th year for the event.
