Since the disaster with Hurricane Florence began to unfold, there has been no shortage of churches, social groups and charitable organizations in the Mid-State working to bring relief to the victims in the Carolinas.

Wednesday in Gallatin, Freedom Church announced they are collecting non-perishable foods, toiletries, bottled water and monetary donations until 5 p.m. Thursday and all day Sunday.

“We’re going to pack this truck as full as we can,” said Pastor Terrell Somerville of Freedom Church. “And we already have other trucks lined up to be able to pack them, as well. Then we’re going to ship it to a church that has a distribution center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.”

If you would like more information on how to donate, call 615-451-6299 or email

“We’re going to ship this stuff out and start transporting on Monday,” the pastor said.

He continued, “I just think that as far as a church in our community, we have a heart to want to help our people, love God and love your neighbors. We not only want to help people with monetary donations, but it’s so awesome to watch the families bring their children like they did last year with Harvey. They go out and they get things, and they know it’s going to get into the hands of the people that are hurting and need it the most.”
