A former Stewart County Sheriff’s Deputy is facing charges in connection with the suicide of a man in Indian Mound, Tenn.

Deputy David Evans, 49, is accused of official misconduct and was arrested Tuesday.

TBI investigators say the suicide victim shot himself, using Evans’ service weapon.

They allege that Evans allowed the man to ride in his patrol car while he was drinking, and used the lights and siren inappropriately.

At one point, investigators say Evans parked in front of the man’s home, and while he was inside, the man grabbed the deputy’s service weapon from the patrol car and shot himself.
