First look at new renderings, video of Nashville Yards

New renderings, video released by the developer of Nashville Yards shows the progress of the development.

“I believe one of the most complex, multiface, multi-use, urban projects you’ll find anywhere in the world,” said Ted Tanner of AEG in the video by developer Southwest Value Partners.

“Use the spaces in between the buildings to create magic for people,” said Joe Bucher of Gresham Smith in the video.

The 600,000 square foot transformation will be home to online giant Amazon’s newest logistic hub that’ll bring 5,000 jobs.

Nashville Yards will also be home to the Grand Hyatt’s newest 23-floor luxury hotel and will also have an entertainment district by entertainment company AEG.

But as construction continues, Metro Council Tuesday night approved about $15 million for infrastructure costs surrounding Nashville Yards.

Metro Councilwoman Angie Henderson was one of three votes against the proposal.

She said paying for infrastructure costs like traffic signals and sidewalks is the responsibility of developers.

“It’s fundamentally unfair that just because you’re Amazon or a preferred developer that you can go to Mayor’s office, sit down, and get yourself a blank check for infrastructure,” said Henderson.

Henderson did try to get the proposal amended to lower the $15 million, that that didn’t pass.

New businesses coming to downtown are also bringing a boost to the housing market.

Representatives from the 505 Building reported it has already sold its condos or rented its apartments to employees of Amazon.
