PLESANT VIEW, Tenn. (WKRN) – A tractor trailer is a total loss after it caught fire on Interstate 24 East in Pleasant View early Friday morning.

It happened on I-24 East near mile marker 28, about 20 miles outside of Nashville, around 12:30 a.m.

Officials told Smokey Barn News the driver began to smell smoke and pulled off to the side of the roadway.

The cab of the truck was engulfed in flames within minutes of the driver pulling over.

The truck was reportedly hauling charcoal. The driver was uninjured.

I-24 East was reduced to one lane as crews extinguished the fire. I-24 West was not affected.
