Fallen law enforcement officers honored 15 years after death at Mt. Juliet ceremony

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) - The community will mark 15 years since a Mt. Juliet police officer and a Wilson County Sheriff's Deputy were killed on Monday.

Sergeant Jerry Mundy and Deputy John Musice were killed on July 9, 2003 while trying to end a high speed chase.

A wreath was laid Monday morning at a memorial dedicated to the two officers.

The memorial service began at 9 a.m. at the Mt. Juliet Police Department.

Mt. Juliet Police say a felon was evading police in 2003 when she purposely ran over Sgt. Mundy and Dep. Musice on Interstate 40.

The two were laying spike strips when she reportedly swerved into them.
