DUI suspect arrested after hitting 9 pedestrians with his truck

Fullerton, CA., (WFLA/CNN) - A California man is in custody, accused of driving his truck onto a crowded sidewalk and hitting nine people.

Police in Fullerton, CA say, Christopher Solis, 22, is suspected of being on drugs when he hit the pedestrians and then crashed into a tree.

Police say nine people ranging in age from 18 to 49-years-old were sent to the hospital.

"Our officers were able to remove at least two or three of those individuals that were stuck underneath the vehicle and they received treatment. Those nine individuals that were struck by the vehicles, excuse me by the vehicle, were transported to a local trauma centers with injuries ranging from moderate to serious." Lt. John Radus of the Fullerton Police Dept said. 

The driver was arrested for felony DUI causing great bodily harm.
