Drugs, guns found after “high-risk” search in Hendersonville

An investigation into a drive-by shooting in Hendersonville led officers to the discovery of drugs and guns. 

According to police, Austin Ellis, 31, is responsible for a drive-by shooting that happened Friday afternoon on Volunteer Drive. No one was hurt in that shooting. Officers say they were able to identify Ellis as the shooter and got a search warrant for his house on Old Shackle Island Road. 

Officers called the investigation “high-risk” and searched Ellis’ house early Saturday morning. 

“Numerous firearms and various drugs packaged for resale” were found inside, according to a news release from the Hendersonville Police Department. 

Based on a photo released by the department, it appears two handguns and three shotguns were recovered. Officers say Ellis was also in possession of heroin, meth and marijuana.

Ellis is charged with reckless endangerment, unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of drug paraphernalia and other drug crimes.
