A driver was critically injured after their vehicle plunged down a ravine off Interstate 840 in Williamson County early Tuesday morning.
It happened around 4 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near the Natchez Trace Parkway
First responders told News 2 the driver left the roadway, hit an embankment before going airborne and plunging nearly 250 feet down a rocky ravine.
Another driver witnessed the crash and was able to call 911, otherwise it may not have been reported for hours, according to authorities at the scene.
The driver was rushed to an area hospital with critical injuries.
The eastbound lanes reopened to traffic just before 6 a.m.
No additional information was immediately released.
