NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Country legend Dolly Parton and her husband are celebrating their 50th anniversary with a vow renewal this weekend.

The two secretly married in Georgia on May 30, 1966. At the time, the couple had to keep it a secret from Dolly’s record label.

“He [my husband] don’t like to do this kind of thing as a rule, but he’s like me – he’s proud we’ve made it 50 years,” she explained. “We’ve been together 52 years. We dated two years and then we got married. We going to do it [renew our vows]. He said he would, so he better – or it won’t last another year.”

Dolly says she plans on taking lots of pictures to document the big day and is going to sell them and donate the money to her non-profit organization that sends books to children all around the world, the Imagination Library.
