Dog wakes family to fire in Sylvan Park home

News

A couple credits their black Labrador with saving their lives early Friday morning when a fire broke out at their Sylvan Park home.

The fire began around 5:30 a.m. at a home on Park Avenue.

Six-year-old Cole began barking to wake the couple up and they ran from the home with him and just the clothes on their backs.

Firefighters arrived to find substantial damage to the home, mostly from smoke.

Fire crews used chainsaws to cut through the floors to get to the fire, which investigators believe began in the home’s crawl space.

The residents told News 2 had the fire happened tomorrow, the home may have been more damaged as they are scheduled to leave Nashville today.

Good boy, Cole!
