Dog rescued after Murfreesboro townhome fire

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) – A townhouse in northern Murfreesboro was destroyed in a fire early Thursday morning.

The fire began just after 3:30 a.m. in a unit on Sitting Bull Crossing off Fortress Blvd.

The home is considered a total loss however the two people living inside were able to make it safely.

Crews extinguished the fire and were able to rescue two dogs and a cat. However, three cats and one other dog did not survive.

A fire official on scene tells News 2 that the building was fully engulfed when crews arrived but were able to contain the flames.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
