NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Delta flight that was headed from Atlanta to Chicago made an emergency landing in Nashville Sunday afternoon.

A spokesman told News 2 that flight 762 touched down at the Nashville International Airport after the cowling, or the outermost cover of engine No. 2, flew off the plane.

There were 109 passengers and five crew members on board the Boeing 717. The plane landed safely and no one was hurt.

Passengers are waiting for another flight to come in from Atlanta to take them to Chicago.

Delta Airlines said they have been in touch with customers to apologize for the incident. They also plan to launch an investigation into what happened.
