Decomposing body found in wooded area of Mt. Juliet

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WKRN) — An investigation is underway after the body of a man was found decomposing in a wooded area of Mt. Juliet Monday night.

The body was found around 8:30 p.m. by a curious resident who ventured into the woods to determine the source of a foul odor near their home in the 1000 block of Secretariat Drive, according to Mt. Juliet police.

Mt. Juliet police reported a preliminary assessment by an investigative team led them to believe that foul play was likely not involved in the man’s death.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death but Mt. Juliet police reported investigators believe it may have been a suicide.

Detectives have been unable to identify the deceased person, but it is a thin white male in their late teens to early 20s.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Mt. Juliet Police Department at 615-754-2550.
