Cumberland Co. deputy hit by car while directing traffic

A Cumberland County school resource officer was taken to the hospital after being struck by a car while directing traffic. 

According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, school resource officer Scott Iles, a deputy sheriff with the sheriff’s office, was hit by a car going south on Highway 127 North while directing school traffic. 

Iles sustained injuries and was airlifted to the hospital for precautionary reasons, officials say. 

Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating.
