Westmoreland police looking for suspect who robbed gas station

Westmoreland police are looking for the suspect responsible for robbing a local gas station. 

Kenny’s Korner on Old Highway 31 East in Westmoreland, was robbed on Oct. 11. 

Officers said at 3:51 a.m. the owner of the store entered and started cooking breakfast when he heard the door buzzer go off. He went around a corner and was met by the armed robber.

According to officials, the suspect hit the owner in the back of the head and demanded money. He then took $1,900 in cash from the register before putting the owner in the bathroom and telling him not to come out. 

Police said the suspect was wearing a black mask, tan Carthartt coveralls and smelled of an alcoholic beverage. He was armed with a black small caliber handgun in a large plastic bag. 

If you have any information on this crime, you are urged to contact Westmoreland police. They are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
