NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — An Uber driver was carjacked at gunpoint Thursday afternoon while taking a smoke break in an Antioch parking lot.

Metro police responded around 3:30 p.m. to Edge O Lake Drive near Murfreesboro Pike for a reported robbery and vehicle theft.

When officers arrived, they said they spoke with the victim who stated he was in his vehicle with the window down, when a man approached and held a pink gun to his head.

The victim was ordered to hand over his money and vehicle, he told police.

According to investigators, the carjacker and another person drove off in the stolen rideshare vehicle, which was later spotted around 8:15 p.m. in the area of Bell Road and Eagle Boulevard.

Police said the driver of the stolen vehicle drove off at a high rate of speed and spikes strips were eventually utilized to stop the car at Bell Road and Murfreesboro Road.

One of the people in the stolen rideshare, identified in an arrest affidavit as Estifanos Kumssa, was taken into custody on charges including carjacking and evading arrest.

No information was released about the other suspect.
