Crime Tracker

The truck driver suspected of stealing an 18-wheeler from a Tennessee business has been arrested following a pursuit in Texas.

Representatives from Sharp Transport reported Tuesday that the truck never arrived for a scheduled pick-up over the weekend in Sulphur, Louisiana.

The company tried multiple times to contact the driver, Terrance Chapa, and reported the incident to Ethridge police when the 40-year-old could not be reached.

Using the vehicle’s built-in tracking system, officers located the missing truck outside of Houston, Texas.

Ethridge police contacted authorities in Harris County, Texas and after a brief chase with law enforcement, Chapa was arrested and booked into a nearby jail.

Chapa was charged with theft of a vehicle over $100,000 and will be transported back to Tennessee.

His bond was set at $100,000.
