Suspected gunman charged in West Nashville parking lot shooting

Crime Tracker

A man shot in a West Nashville parking lot earlier this week told investigators the incident stemmed from a confrontation with someone sitting on his car trailer.

Metro police were called around 6 p.m. on April 1 to TriStar Centennial Hospital where a gunshot victim had shown up for treatment.

According to a police report, the victim told officers he was shot while in the parking lot next to 25th Avenue North and Batavia Street.

He explained that a group of people were sitting on his car trailer and there was an argument between him and one of the people, identified by investigators as Anthony Thomas.

Police said Thomas, 52, made statements that he would kill the victim, then walked to his vehicle, grabbed a gun and chased the victim around the parking lot while firing multiple shots at him.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his torso.

Thomas was charged Thursday with attempted criminal homicide. Bond was set at $250,000.
