A man stabbed another man in self defense during an attempted robbery Monday night in an Antioch parking lot, investigators say.
Metro police responded around 10 p.m. to a reported robbery on Hickory Hollow Parkway near I-24 and Bell Road.
The victim told officers he was in the parking lot when the suspects pulled in, walked up to him and demanded his money, so he started swinging a box knife and hammer at them.
Police said one of the men, identified as 19-year-old Edilberto Orozco, Jr., continued to approach the victim.
The suspects ran back to the vehicle and drove off, hitting the victim in the leg, pinning him against an embankment and speeding off, an arrest affidavit stated.
About 30 minutes later, police said they were called to TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center where Orozco, Jr. showed up with a stab wound and claimed someone robbed and stabbed him.
Detectives said Orozco, Jr. eventually admitted that “he was riding around with some friends when they decided to commit a robbery.”
He was charged Tuesday with aggravated robbery and held on a $75,000 bond.
