A man accused of injuring a dog with a rock Tuesday in East Nashville has been jailed in the case.

Marece Nebil, 31, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to an arrest affidavit, Metro police were called to a gas station on Main Street near South 7th Street where a man claimed he was walking his dog, when Nebil stood up and asked for a cigarette.

The victim said Nebil came toward him, so he pushed the suspect, who fell to the ground.

The victim reportedly continued walking his dog and eventually noticed Nebil behind him.

Nebil picked up a 1.5-pound rock and threw it at the victim, police said. The rock hit the victim’s dog causing an injury to the pet.

Police said the victim returned to the gas station and the suspect followed, so the victim held him down until officers arrived.

Nebil admitted to throwing the rock, detectives said.

His bond was set at $25,000.
