Metro police have arrested a 20-year-old man accused of firing multiple gunshots at a vehicle with children inside earlier this year in the parking lot of the Germantown Kroger.

Robert Dalton, 20, was charged Thursday with multiple counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to an arrest affidavit, two adults and two children, a four-year-old and four-month-old, were shopping on February 18 at the Kroger on Monroe Street, when one of the adults was pushed by Dalton and was involved in a “physical altercation.”

The adults were later putting their groceries in the trunk of their vehicle, when they told officers that Dalton pulled up in a car, showed a gun and fired approximately three shots at them.

As Dalton fled the scene, the victims stated the 20-year-old fired several additional shots in the direction of their vehicle.

One bullet entered the driver’s side door in the area where the children were seated and at least two bullets hit another vehicle in the parking lot, police said.

Detectives said the incident was captured on surveillance video.

Dalton was also charged with vandalism and evading arrest.
