Metro police arrested a North Carolina man who ran to Nashville after his mother’s murder.

Officers said 27-year-old Jack Walker showed up at General Hospital with superficial scratches on his hands and said that he had tried to kill his mother and she might be dead.

Based on Walker’s account and the discovery of his mother’s 2016 Jeep in the hospital parking garage with a bloody shirt in the passenger seat, Metro police said they contacted the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and asked them to check on Cindy Walker’s welfare.

Deputies said they found her dead in her home from apparent trauma.

North Carolina law enforcement put out a homicide warrant for Jack Walker. He is charged in Nashville with being a fugitive from justice.

He is expected to be returned to North Carolina in the coming days.
