NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) —Metro police are investigating after a man was found with five gunshot wounds in northwest Nashville Thursday night.
It happened around 10:20 p.m. on 32nd Avenue North, near where Interstate 40 and 440 branch off from each other.
Metro police reported the victim was walking to his girlfriend’s home when another man approached him, told him he didn’t belong there and began firing.
The victim, who was also armed, returned fire but is not believed to have hit the gunman, according to Metro police.
The shooter fled from the scene. No suspect description was immediately released.
The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries though he is expected to survive.
Investigators were unable to locate the victim’s gun and Metro police reported nine bullet casings of two different calibers were recovered from the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
