Police: Man banned from Broadway bar pulls knife on security

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man barred from a Broadway business for pickpocketing patrons was arrested over the weekend for returning to the bar and threatening security officers with a knife, Metro police say.

Dennis Ward, 22, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to an arrest affidavit, Metro police responded Saturday to Jason Aldean’s Kitchen + Rooftop Bar on Broadway where security said they had confronted Ward because he had previously been ordered to stay away from the business after surveillance cameras captured him pickpocketing customers.

When security confronted Ward, they said he told them “it’s because I’m black,” then pulled out a pocket knife, flicked it open and stated “I’m going to kill you,” the paperwork states.

During an interview with authorities, Ward admitted to pulling the knife on security, police said.

Bond for Ward was set at $10,000.
