Police: ‘Inebriated’ 14-year-old hurt in South Nashville crash

A woman is charged with vehicular assault after Metro Police say she crashed her car into a pole and injured one of her passengers.

The passenger is 14 and officers said “clearly inebriated.”

Lesly Garcia, 20, is charged with vehicular assault, contributing the delinquency of a minor and driving without a license. 

This crash happened early Thursday morning at in the 22oo block of Nolensville Pike. Officers say Garcia slammed into a pole “at a high rate of speed,” and was “clearly impaired.”

Police say Garcia was passing in and out of consciousness and unable to clearly communicate what happened with officers. She was taken to the hospital and officers requested a search warrant to get a blood sample.

Two other people were in the car, including the 14-year-old, who police say was so inebriated she was unable to give officers her name or tell them how she going in the car. Officers identified her through her fingerprints.
