NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - A 38-year-old man admitted he used a Bird scooter to strike a Mercedes multiple times over the weekend in downtown Nashville because "it's a Nazi car" and people should "buy American," an arrest affidavit states.
Thomas Vinh Luu was booked into the Metro jail on charges of vandalism, disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
Metro police responded Sunday to the area of Second Avenue North near Church Street where various people reported seeing the suspect strike a vehicle with a Bird scooter.
When officers arrived, they were told Luu was in a bathroom, so they went in and spoke with him.
The suspect admitted to the crime, made mention of drinking alcohol and had urinated on himself, police said.
According to officers, Luu appeared to be in an altered state of mind, also remarking on military matters and celebrities when he was taken into custody.
Luu was held in the Metro jail on a $1,600 bond.
