NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN)  — A 60-year-old man was arrested Sunday in connection with an attack on his nephew during a disagreement over politics at a relative’s birthday celebration in a West Nashville home.

Metro police responded around 1:30 a.m. Sunday to a report of gunshots fired and people screaming at a home on Capri Court.

When officers arrived, they said the victim told them he had been assaulted by his uncle, Mark Nuhn.

The victim told officers he was there to celebrate his stepfather’s birthday, and during the party, he and Nuhn got into an argument over politics while on a back patio.

When the two walked back inside the home, the victim stated Nuhn pushed and shoved him out of the house and then punched him in the face multiple times.

At some point, the victim and suspect went over the patio railing and wrestled on the ground for several minutes, witnesses said.

Eventually the fight broke up and the victim, who suffered injuries to his face, was able to leave and contact police.

The altercation was recorded on home security cameras, authorities said.

Officers were not initially able to locate Nuhn at the scene but said he was eventually tracked down and taken into custody.

Nuhn was charged with assault and held on a $2,500 bond.

His initial court appearance was scheduled for Wednesday.
