Nashville woman wakes up to intruder taking off her clothes

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - A terrifying morning for one Nashville mother who said she woke up to a man pulling her clothes off.

Turns out the man is a convicted killer.

It happened around 8:45 a.m. Thursday morning at the Granstaff at Metro Center apartments just North of downtown Nashville.

The victim said she was asleep inside of her apartment off Rosa Parks Boulevard with her two children, both under 5-years-old, when a man put his hands down her pajama pants and underclothes and began pulling them down.

The victim stated that she screamed and that's when he ran out of her apartment.

Police were already at the apartment complex when they heard a burglary in progress on their radios and they had Andre Lewis detained already, because of a possible domestic disturbance between him and his mother.

While talking to Lewis police heard the suspect description in the burglary, which matched Lewis who was standing in front of them.

Officers immediately took him into custody and the victim positively identified him as the person who was in her apartment.

News 2 pulled his criminal file, which shows in 2014 he was charged with reckless homicide after robbing and shooting a man several times.

Lewis spent four years in jail and has since been arrested on at least a half dozen different occasions. Many of those cases have been dismissed.

Lewis pled guilty last month for aggravated trespassing at the same apartment complex.

Lewis is facing especially aggravated burglary in this latest incident.
