A Metro police detective has been decommissioned after she was charged with DUI in Wilson County.

Detective Sergeant Sandra Luther was decommissioned after she was arrested and charged with DUI after she crashed her personal vehicle on I-40 in Wilson County, according to Metro police.

According to police, a THP trooper responded to citizens calling in about a pickup truck that was weaving in the roadway. A short time later, he found a pickup truck that rolled near I-840.

Officers said Luther was the only one in the truck. They also said she smelled of alcohol and admitted to drinking before voluntarily submitting a blood test.

Police said Luther was off duty and not wearing her department-issued weapon at the time.

Luther, a 19-year veteran of the department, was decommissioned after her release from the Wilson County Jail.
