NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man has died after being found in the street near downtown Nashville Sunday night with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to Metro police, officers responded to University Court at Carroll Street, in the Napier-Sudekum public housing development, around 11:20 p.m. where the 23-year-old gunshot victim was discovered.

Investigators have determined Maxime Assem parked his car on University Court and walked toward two residential buildings before the shooting.

Police said a short time later, Assem and some others went back to his car where one of them shot him.

Assem was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

A motive for the shooting was not immediately known.

No suspect information has been released.
