NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A 28-year-old man has been charged with aggravated statutory rape after police say he sexually abused a child who reported being kidnapped from a Nashville Walmart.

The warrant states Metro police were notified Monday that a 13-year-old girl, who had been reported missing from Louisiana in June, was located at an apartment in Nashville belonging to Orlin Funez-Flores.

The child told detectives she had been abducted from a Nashville Walmart and raped by several strangers, but she was able to escape and call Funez-Flores, who she identified as a friend, according to the paperwork.

During the investigation into the child’s abduction, Metro detectives said they learned Funez-Flores had raped the girl while she was at his apartment.

Funez-Flores was taken into custody Monday night and booked into the Metro jail on a charge of aggravated statutory rape, as well as an unrelated domestic assault charge. His bond was set at $30,000.

Metro police said Tuesday morning they had not identified any possible suspects in the abduction and rape of the teenage victim.

No additional information was released about the ongoing investigation.
