A man has been charged with murder in the shooting of a Cheatham County man.
Authorities were called to the home in the 1000 block of Bryant Road just after 4 a.m. Tuesday
According to the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Department, deputies entered the home and found 39-year-old Jeremy Tryon with gunshot wounds to his body.
William Jeffery Powell was charged with second-degree murder. A police report states that Powell is the one who dialed 911 after shooting his friend Tryon.
Police said Powell and a woman, identified as Ellen Leahy, were in the home drinking and using drugs. A glass smoking pipe with burnt residue in it inside the home.
An arrest report says they became intoxicated and an argument ensued between Leahy and Powell.
According to court documents, investigators believe Powell knowingly killed Tryon with the gun.
Leahy was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
