NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - Metro police arrested a man accused of crashing into a Nashville Fire Department ambulance Wednesday night in North Nashville and driving off.
Alfonzo Divens, 55, was booked into the Metro jail on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident.
According to an arrest affidavit, officers responded to 15th Avenue North off Buchanan Street where a paramedic stated he was in the back of the ambulance working on a patient, when he felt the ambulance shake as if someone hit it.
When the paramedic stepped out of the ambulance, he told investigators he saw a vehicle drive away from the scene and park approximately 50 feet away, where it remained for two to three minutes before it drove off.
About ten minutes later, the paramedic told police the vehicle involved returned to the scene.
Divens denied striking the ambulance but investigators said the damage to the passenger side of the ambulance lined up with Divens' mirror which had a scratch on it and was pushed back.
Bond for Divens was set at $500.
