A man has been arrested in connection with the attempted theft of a U-Haul truck from a store in West Nashville.

Metro police responded Monday to the business on Annex Avenue off Charlotte Pike where a witness reported seeing a man use a coat hanger to take keys from inside the U-Haul store through a small window in the door.

When officers arrived, they said the suspected burglar, Amarti Plunkett, tried to flee but was chased on foot and taken into custody nearby.

A coat hangar and a set of U-Haul keys were located near the scene of the arrest, police said.

Plunkett, 42, was charged with burglary and evading arrest.
