Man arrested after walking down the street with stolen AR-15

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) - A man was arrested after walking around downtown Nashville with a stolen AR-15.

Michael Ray Jenkins, a convicted thief and burglar, was arrested Thursday night after several concerned citizens called police, according to a release.

Officers said calls came pouring in around 10:30 p.m. about a man with long hair and a tan hat walking on Broadway with a military style rifle and magazines of ammunition.

Police canvassed the area and were flagged down by citizens who pointed in the man's direction.

According to a release, police found the 63-year-old Jenkins in an alley behind the 1600 block of Patterson Street with the AR-15.

Police said they discovered that Jenkins, who is known for burglarizing cars, broke into a vehicle parked at the DawgHouse Saloon on Demonbreun Street, found the AR-15 and ammunition, stole them and started walking.

Authorities said they also found a bent screwdriver and other items from the car he allegedly burglarized.

Jenkins is charged with auto burglary, possession of a burglary tool, and unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon. He is jailed in lieu of $24,000 bond.
