A 64-year-old man has been taken into custody after a deadly shooting early Wednesday morning in Springfield.
Police said they responded to Stevenson Lane around 3:45 a.m. after receiving a 911 call about someone being shot.
Upon arriving to the scene, deputies discovered the shooting victim, Stanley Garrett, laying in the road in front of a home with a gunshot to his upper chest. Garrett was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the course of the investigation, authorities determined Roy Grant was responsible for the fatal shooting.
He was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with criminal homicide. Grant is being held without bond.
A motive has not been released.
