A man was pumping gas when he was arrested and charged with stealing the car he was filling up.
Metro police arrested Joshua Erickson Friday night in West Nashville and charged him with theft of property.
According to his arrest affidavit, a Metro officer thought Erickson was “acting suspicious” in the parking lot at the Shell gas station on Alabama Avenue.
The officer spoke with the 33-year-old man and said Erickson told him he was driving a Black BMW. The officer reported seeing a BMW key fob on Erickson’s belt loop.
The officer drove around to where the car was and ran the license plate and according to the affidavit, the car had been reported stolen.
Erickson was arrested as he was pumping gas into the car.
