A 20-year-old man accused of shooting his friend Thursday morning inside of a Hermitage apartment reportedly told investigators he did not know the gun was loaded.
Metro police were called around 12:30 a.m. to Oakwell Farms Apartments on Oakwell Farms Lane for a report of a man shot in the leg.
Officers said Jesus Fregozo admitted he found the pistol on the floor, pointed it at his friend’s leg, pulled the trigger and a bullet hit the victim in the left leg.
The victim was transported to the emergency room at Vanderbilt University Medical Center with injuries deemed non life-threatening, investigators stated.
Fregozo, 20, was charged with felony reckless endangerment.
According to an arrest affidavit, the suspect told officers he did not think the weapon was loaded but did not check it before he pointed it at the victim and fired.
