A woman from Wayne County was arrested in Lawrence County after deputies reported finding a “felony amount” of drugs during a traffic stop.

Anna Maria Smith is charged with possession of methamphetamine for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies stopped Smith Wednesday on Waynesboro Highway for a traffic violation and during that stop, the officer reported finding 35 grams of meth.

“We are diligently working to make sure it’s known by drug dealers to stay out of Lawrence County,” said Sheriff John Myers. “Every day our team gains a little more ground on fighting illegal substances in our community. I’m beyond proud of the effort that’s been done so far.”

Smith is being held in the Lawrence County Jail.
