A tip from the public about the location of a homicide suspect led to the arrests of two men on weapons charges Monday at an apartment in South Nashville.
Metro police said Amaurea O’Dulin and Adrian Gaines were taken into custody Monday night following the search of an apartment on Tampa Drive.
According to an arrest affidavit, officers responded to a tip that a homicide suspect was staying at the apartment and when they arrived, they quickly noticed “an obvious odor of marijuana coming from the apartment.”
When the door was opened, officers said they found a substance, consistent with heroin and cocaine, on the couch, along with another one on the ground.
A loaded pistol was located in Gaines’ bedroom during a search of the apartment, police said, and a loaded gun was found in a backpack near the heroin.
The heroin in the apartment was believed to weigh more than 40 grams, investigators said.
Both Gaines, a convicted felon, and O’Dulin are charged for illegal possession of a weapon.
Police said O’Dulin admitted the heroin was his and faced various drug charges.
No details have been released about the homicide suspect police were trying to locate.
