CrimeTracker: Nashville ranks highest areas for violent crimes, property crimes

Three intersections in the area of Murfreesboro Pike near Briley Parkway rank the highest for violent crimes in the city, according to recent crime statistics from Metro police.

The data was collected over a 12-week period that ended January 26 and classified crimes based on the nearby intersection.

Violent crimes, which include shootings, robberies and assaults, were highest in the area of Patricia Drive and Thompson Place with 16 incidents reported.

That was followed by Millwood Drive and Murfreesboro Pike, about half a mile away, where police said 13 violent crimes occurred over the 12-week period.

Three other intersections reported 12 violent crimes including 4th Avenue North and Broadway. The other two were East Thompson Lane and Murfreesboro Pike along with Dickerson Pike and Marie Street.

As for property crimes, which include shoplifting, car theft and burglary, there were 99 recorded incidents at Opry Mills pushing it to the top of the list.

Forty-five property crimes were reported in the area of Joyce Lane and Grinstead Place with 41 incidents at Third Avenue South and Broadway.

North Gallatin Pike and Northside Drive, along with 4th Avenue North and Broadway, rounded out the top five intersections for property crime in the city.
