Two suspects on the run after armed robbery at gas station near Belmont

Police are investigating after two men held up a gas station near Belmont University at gunpoint early Tuesday morning. 

The incident happened just before 2 a.m. at the Circle K on Belmont Boulevard, which is right across the street from the university’s campus.

Police say two men entered the store with handguns. They also took the clerk’s wallet and keys before fleeing in a maroon Chevy Malibu.

The car was found abandoned on Edgehill Avenue. 

One of the suspects was described as a white male wearing a dark hoody and khaki pants. The other suspect was a black male wearing a black and white jacket.
