A Metro Nashville Police officer is recovering from minor injuries after she was assaulted by a man at a gas station in Antioch very early on Sunday morning.
According to officials, Officer Autumn Manning pulled up to the Shell gas station on the 190 block of Haywood Lane and witnessed the suspect assaulting another man with a pool cue.
When the officer stepped in to stop the suspect from assaulting another man and arrest him, he allegedly turned his aggression toward her and then ran away.
The attacker is identified as Marcelo Mendoza, 34. He fled on foot and is at large, according to police.
Officer Manning was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Mendoza was arrested Sunday night at his home on Townes Ct.
