NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Country artist Morgan Wallen was arrested on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct after an incident Saturday night at Kid Rock’s Honky Tonk on Lower Broadway.

According to an arrest affidavit, officers observed security guards for the establishment remove the 27-year-old around 11 p.m. due to him being disorderly by kicking glass items inside. Officers said they gave Wallen several opportunities to walk away with his friends, but he refused.

Police reported Wallen had a strong odor of alcohol and appeared to be a danger to himself and others. Officers said he got into multiple verbal altercations with people passing by and was arrested due to being intoxicated in public, unable to take care of himself and the reasonable likelihood the offense would continue.

The country singer was released from jail on a $500 bond shortly after his arrest.

Wallen addressed the arrest Sunday evening on Twitter, saying he and his friends were “horse-playing with each other” and “didn’t mean any harm.” In a series of tweets, he apologized to the bar staff and thanked “local authorities for being so professional and doing their job with class.” He closed with “Love y’all.”

Wallen competed in 2014 on the NBC network competition The Voice but was eliminated during playoffs. Since that time, the Sneedville native was signed to two record labels and released the singles “The Way I Talk,” “Up Down” feat. Florida Georgia Line, “Whiskey Glasses” and “Chasin’ You.”
