A business check turned into a drug investigation for police in Goodlettsville Thursday afternoon.

Officers went to a hotel on East Cedar Street, an area they say has “a high amount of criminal activity,” and found a woman sitting in a car in front of one of the rooms.

Police say the woman, Courtney Tinkle, was trespassing because she was not a guest of the hotel. He says he soon found out she had active warrants out of Williamson and Cheatham Counties.

Tinkle told the officer she was staying with a friend, Tiffany Kemp, but when the officer went to the room, an officer said Dustin Dearfield opened the door and then quickly shut it.

Police say Kemp gave consent for officers to search the room. They reported finding 109 Vyvance capsules, meth hidden in an air vent, scales, metal spoon with burnt residue, plastic bags and new and used syringes.

Officers say Dearfield had outstanding warrants from Roberston, Sumner and Cheatham Counties and that Kemp had outstanding warrants from Davidson County.

All three suspects are charged with drug crimes. Tinkle is also charged with possession in of contraband in jail because officers say she was found with a syringe in her underwear after she was booked.
