Williamson County deputies capture pursuit suspect near I-840

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A search for a suspect in Williamson County along Interstate 840 has ended, and investigators have the suspect in custody.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested a man who pointed a gun at them after he wrecked his car on I-840. When deputies asked him to drop his weapon, he refused and was shot in the leg. He then led deputies on a chase into the woods.

A manhunt ensued for more than an hour in the Peytonsville-Arno Road area. Williamson County K9s and a THP helicopter assisted deputies in locating the suspect.

TDOT had shut down a portion of I-840 eastbound between mile markers 34 and 37 while the investigation was ongoing. The roadway was reopened shortly before 4:30 p.m.

The suspect is headed to Williamson Medical Center to be checked out for injuries sustained in the shooting. He will be facing multiple charges when he is booked into jail.

A deputy was also transported to the hospital for heat exhaustion.

Tennessee Highway Patrol, Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation all assisted in the investigation.
