Members of the Burnette Chapel Church of Christ saw the man accused of opening fire inside their chapel in person for the first time since the shooting.

Emanuel Samson, 27, appeared in Davidson Co. Court on Wednesday for a motion hearing.

Samson is accused of killing 39-year-old Melanie Crow and injuring seven others in September 2017.

In March, Samson was indicted on 43 charges including first-degree murder. He has since pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

A 22-year-old congregant is lauded for stopping Samson before he could inflict any more damage.

Caleb Engle was honored in La Vergne one month after the shooting.
