A 27-year-old man faces various drug charges following Wednesday afternoon’s discovery of an estimated 57 pounds of ‘high-grade’ marijuana in two large roller bags at Nashville International Airport.

Airport police said a K-9 alerted them around 4 p.m. to the odor of narcotics coming from bags labeled “Toney Le” on a Southwest inbound flight from Las Vegas.

According to an arrest affidavit for Toney Le, an agent and officer watched him pick up the luggage, then approached him, searched the bags and found clothing wrapped around a large bundle that smelled of raw marijuana and air freshener.

Detectives with Nashville International Airport cut open the bundles which they said contained an estimated 57 pounds of high-grade marijuana, along with shirts, pants and bras.

Le reportedly told police they were his bags, but he did not pack them.

He was booked into the Metro jail just before 7 p.m. Wednesday and was released on bond around 9 p.m.
